The original Boston Gems website, built in the 1990s, was outdated and did not meet the needs of the business. The site wasn’t pleasing to the eye, well organized or optimized for SEO. In general the website was in need of both web design and structural development.
The Boston Gems crew were ready to have a complex set of features integrated into the website that we have developed, including a private catalog that would only allow viewers to see the massive inventory after their account has been “approved” by the Boston Gems team. After approaching Boston Web Group with their specific wants and needs we arrived at the following requirements:
- More search friendly website & catalog for their gemstones
- Robust filters for their products by gem type and color
- An option for users to send inquiries about the stones through online forms
- A password protected login area for clients
- To increase their rankings in google search results through search engine optimization (SEO)
Based on these requirements, The team at Boston Web Group developed a plan that would create a new WordPress site with the following features and upgrades.
- Custom WordPress using WooCommerce store
- New modern design
- Searchable online catalog with filters for product attributes
- An option for users to send inquiries via a built in form
- A password protected login area for clients
- Gem-specific landing pages to provide more product information
- search engine optimization (SEO) so as to increase online exposure and increase new business
