Client Spotlight: National Congress of Black Women

The National Congress of Black Women, Inc.- Kansas City Chapter, is a non-profit, civic organization dedicated to the educational, political, economic, cultural development and advancement of African American Women, their families, and their communities.

The client was ready to start with something fresh because the previous site had run its course; the site was outdated and difficult to navigate. The organization came to Boston Web Group looking to create a minimalist, basic website. The Congress had specific requests, including:

  • The site should stay “cultural”
  • The site should reflect the group’s identity as women of color
  • The site should clearly state and define the values and tenets
  • The site should show clear paths for joining and donating

Boston Web Group built a new site on the WordPress platform running on a modern theme.  BWG ensured that the new site would be responsive on all devices and visitors can find out about the KC Chapter’s mission and how they can get involved fast. The team used the logo which uses a silhouette of Sojourner Truth, and used imagery of a young, modern black woman inside of the main hero image.

The result is a completely revamped site that has a modern and clean feel. The new site runs faster and is easier to navigate than the previous version. New eye-catching photos have been added to appeal to new members. The local chapter relies on the site to get vital information out to its members so it was of the utmost importance for the site to undergo this much-needed facelift.
